Coach
Thomas and Beith focus
in on another Championship Performance
|
From:
Latif Thomas and Patrick Beith
Dear
Coach,

et’s
face it, the best athletes on any
team are the fastest athletes.
The
team with the most speed is almost always
going to be more successful. The fact
that you’re reading this right
now tells me that you know this is true
and that your athletes are not as fast
as you want them to be.
|
But
how do you make them faster?
After
all, like many coaches, maybe you were told
that you can’t teach speed. That an athlete
is either born with it or they’re not,
right?
Wrong!
Arguably the
biggest myth in all of sports is
that you can’t coach speed or teach
athletes how to run faster or make serious
improvements to their agility and change
of direction quickness.
Now
all the success of the athletes on your team
is dependent on learning sport specific skills
instead of developing the foundation of success
in almost every sport, for every athlete: SPEED.
Somewhere
along the way someone lied to you and told you
something that simply isn’t true. In fact,
more and more people are quickly finding out
that quite the opposite is true.
You
can’t afford to keep using the
same old excuse that your team just ‘isn’t
fast enough’ or that the other team ‘has
too much speed.’
Here’s
the problem:
Most
resources that talk about speed development
are long boring books filled with painful scientific
explanations that just give description after
description on the mechanics of running or have
strange looking black and white diagrams of
how to do drills.
If
you’re anything like me, you have too
much on your plate to struggle through a textbook
in order to develop your team’s speed.
Besides,
we both know that if you want to get your kids
to actually listen to what
you’re saying, you better be pretty convincing.
If you look like a deer caught in headlights
when coaching your athletes, you’re not
going to get much of an effort out of them.
After
all, young kids have such short attention spans,
if they don’t like what they’re
doing, you’re going to lose them pretty
quick.
Teenagers
don’t want to listen to you even when
they know you’re right. So if they think
you’re making things up as you go along
now, good luck convincing them otherwise later
on.
On
the other hand, video programs just don’t
cover enough information.
Sure
one tape might give you some good drills for
agility or another gives some decent tips on
improving speed, but once you’re done
watching them you just feel disappointed.
You
feel like you’re missing an important
piece of the puzzle. (It’s because
you are.)
You’re
just not quite sure how to link it all together
so that you actually get some positive results
out of it. (And you probably won’t)
What
right do I have to comment on other peoples’ training
products?
I
have an entire room full of, literally, hundreds
of DVDs, VHS tapes, books, manuals and training
certifications on every possible aspect of speed,
strength and power development.
Believe
me when I tell you that I’ve seen it all
and tried it all. So I know what does and
doesn’t work with real athletes.
Now
here’s the good news…
Developing
Explosive Speed and Agility in Your Athletes
is EASY!
It really is. It’s just a matter of applying simple techniques to your
program that you’ve probably been overlooking. All you have to do is modify
your approach.
The
secret to unlocking dormant speed within all
of your athletes is very simple.
The
key is to develop
their overall athletic ability by developing
all the elements required for success in any
sport: speed,
agility, strength, coordination, power, flexibility
and conditioning.
I understand
if you’re a little bit hesitant to believe
that speed can be taught this easily. After
all, some people aren’t ‘naturally
fast’ so the safe assumption is that they
are doomed to always be slow.
But
think of it like this. While it’s true
not every athlete can be an Olympic 100 meter
runner, most athletes have never been
taught how to run or move correctly,
if at all. That means that by making their weaknesses
into strengths, they can operate at a much higher
percent of their full potential.
Like
I said, I understand that you might be a bit
skeptical. But thousands of coaches have taken
that ‘leap of faith’ and are amazed
at the results they’ve gotten.
You
will be too...
“Any
coach wanting to impact their program
and take athletes to the next level
needs to follow this methodology.”
"Hey
guys,
Your programs are right on! I work with NFL athletes and teams
on a daily basis and specifically in the areas of speed, power,
coordination, flexibility, stability, and agility. It is amazing
how most teams are still incorporating radically outdated and dangerous
static stretching and improper warm-ups. I think your information
is great and any coach really wanting to impact their program and
take the athletes to the next level needs to follow this methodology.
I have implemented your programs for the past year or so focusing
on the warm up and getting more specific as the warm up evolves.
Punters get more quality reps because they are ready to kick as
soon as the warm up is complete. Running backs say their hips feel
loose right from the beginning. Best of all the progressions allow
for cumulative lasting affects on flexibility whereas most programs
create tightness and result in injuries from not enough recovery
and incorrect stretching. I plan to bring this stuff to the forefront
with the NFL and change how things are being done thanks for your
help. Expect some referrals from me! Keep up the good work!"

“The
coach was so impressed with my knowledge
I’ve been invited to lead
the class by myself."
“Wonderful,
enlightening information. Recently,
I went to a speed and agility
class offered by my son's local
sports club. I had just completed
studying your Complete Speed Training
program and reading several articles
in the newsletter. Well, I was
speaking with the coach who was
so impressed with my knowledge
that mid way through the class,
I was instructing the kids on
mechanics and exercises. I was
invited back to lead the class
by myself and now I've been requested
to set up programs for the entire
program. Also, several parents
have approached me about working
with their kids this summer. I
guess I now need information on
getting certified and how to run
a summer camp. Thanks!”

“We
went undefeated in conference last
year.”
“I
received my DVD'S of the complete
speed training packet. WOW! I
was so excited that it came I
just started ripping the box open.
It took awhile to get to Hawaii,
10 days. My daughter told me to
take it easy dad, it's just a
box! No, not just a box, it's
what’s inside. I was right!
A wealth of info. I can see it
being taught, step by step. What
valuable info for all. I leave
it on the computer playing and
my students (I'm a high school
teacher) glance it and then become
glued to my monitor. See, our
Football players see it and they
start to ask questions about it.
My Basketball players already
went through the training last
year when I ordered the Complete
Olympic Lifting and the myths
of speed and power training. Is
it a wonder that we went undefeated
in conference last year and why
I felt we were the best conditioned
team in the conference. I'm a
believer in the programs that
you provide for us.
Why
are others thinking about it?
I
hope it's not the money, because
it was truly a sacrifice for me
and believe me it sure was a sacrifice
for me to put out that much money,
but my wife and I knew it was
something that I needed, not what
I wanted. (I hope that makes sense)
Patrick, what I'm trying to say
here is that it was not a multiple
choice question for me, it was
plain and simple, get it!
Keep
doing what you guys do best. Need
to get you folks to come and do
a seminar or some training sessions
in Hawaii.

So,
with the advice and suggestions of coaches in
similar positions to you we created a program
that shows you…
|
|
Quick
and easy methods for getting more done
in less time so you can focus on the skills
specific to your sport.
|
|
|
Easy
to understand and apply strategies for
speed development.
|
|
|
Clear
progressions that can be used for beginner
and advanced athletes at the same practice.
|
|
|
Drills
and exercises on video so you can see exactly
how to perform and teach drills properly. |
|
|
Specific
instructions detailing how, where and when
to use each movement without having “to
earn a degree in exercise science or biomechanics” |
|
|
Proven
sample workouts and programs you can instantly
bring to practice – the same day your
program arrives |
And
that’s just the beginning of how clear
things are made for you.
Coach,
here is the bottom line.
We’re
both working toward the same goal:
Helping
improve the speed, agility and quickness of
your athletes and the overall success of your
team.
Improving
in this area is not only possible, it’s
the only way to make significant improvements
on the track or on the field. And these improvements
can happen immediately when you start making
some basic changes.
How
much longer will you wait to make a change
in the way your athletes practice and compete?
In
fact, take this one-minute quiz to see
if Complete Speed Training can help
the athletes you coach…
|
If
you answered anything other than an enthusiastic
YES! to any of the previous questions, then your
team is not on the path to accomplishing
the athletic goals you set at the beginning
of each season.
When
you want to appear knowledgeable to your
athletes and can give them constructive
feedback on improving their speed, not only
will they have more success, but they will be
more willing to listen anytime you want to give
them advice.
But
here’s the problem, if
you keep doing the same things you’ve
always done, you’re going to keep getting
the same results.
Most
athletes have never been taught the most effective
ways to warm up or develop power.
They’ve never been shown how to run correctly or learned specific techniques
for cutting and changing direction.
They’ve
certainly never been in a program that combined
these elements in order to achieve maximum results.
Now
these bad habits have become automatic and
until you rid your athletes of these liabilities,
they will forever be slower than they should
be, slower than they are capable of.
As the coach, it’s your job to develop and prepare your athletes to compete
to the best of their ability.
So
it doesn’t matter what sport, gender or
age your athletes are. The areas required for
improvement cover all sports, all ages and both
genders.
Slow
is slow, no matter what sport it is.
Poor
flexibility, lack of coordination and physical
weakness aren’t exclusive to one sport
or age group, they’re holding back athletes
in every sport and age group…
The
FIRST and ONLY All-Inclusive, Step by Step,
Speed Development Program to Show You Exactly How
to Make Your Athletes Faster and More a Athletic
Than the Competition!
After years of competing, coaching, studying, trial and error we decided to ‘spill
the beans’ by giving you our best, most effective tactics for developing
jaw dropping speed, power and quickness.
Announcing!
The One and Only Complete Speed Training
System:
DVD
#1: Pre
Competition
Here
is the solution to the most crucial yet
over-looked component of your training!
Are
your athletes losing up to 20% of their
speed and power? Studies show that certain
types of stretching prior to activity reduces
power output, therefore reducing sprint speed.
In
order to be fully prepared for a practice or
competition, athletes must get the blood flowing
to all of their muscles. If they don’t,
not only will they be slower than they are capable
of, but the incidence of hamstring and groin
pulls, sore hips and tight backs will cause
them to sit out of practice, miss games and
meets at the worst possible times.
How often do your athletes complain of muscle pain or experience injuries?
The solution to this problem does not lie in ‘sucking it up’.
You must incorporate a dynamic warm up each day where your athletes are
actively and progressively increasing the intensity of their movements.
Jogging followed by a group static stretch is an inferior, out dated means
of starting a practice or getting ready for a competition. If this is still
part of your program, eliminate it now!
Realize the shocking benefits of a structured dynamic warm-up and the latest,
cutting edge flexibility enhancement exercises.
- The
little known secret to effectively using running
drills that instantly make your athletes faster!
- Why
athletes should never do the same warm up
every day.
- The
amazing secret to improving stride length
and frequency.
- 48
new dynamic warm up exercises and active movements
that prepare the body for
the physical demands of practices and competitions,
reduce the likelihood of injury and dramatically
improve performance.
- The
correct way to use traditional stretching
to improve flexibility
- Instant
access to proven warm-up programs you can
use to make an immediate impact on
the your athlete’s performance… the
very first day.
- 4
proven techniques for increasing speed, range
of motion and reducing recovery time between
workouts that must be included in every athlete’s
training program for maximum results.
DVD
#2: Agility Training
How
to train your athletes to cut on a dime
and make plays you never thought possible!
As
you know, an athlete that has a smoking 40 yard
dash time isn't always your 'fastest' athlete
on the field.Speed has many
different characteristics that all need
to be addressed be in your speed training program.
Your
athletes need to be quick off the line, first
to the ball, faster up field, make razor sharp
cuts, react and change directions at a moments
notice. No problem right?
Agility
training involves putting athletes in the right
physical position before they start the drill.
Poor
technique = poor performance.
When
an athlete isn’t in the right position
because you haven’t taught them the best
way to get there, whose fault is that?
Get
the ready-to-use Agility Training DVD that simplifies
this potentially complex subject.
- The
top 26 lightning quick agility drills and
variations that will fuel improvements in team
foot speed, coordination and acceleration.
- 40
of the most effective agility drills proven
to drastically enhance cutting, change of
direction, speed and lateral mobility.
- Quick
and easy drills that develop coordination,
timing and body awareness
- View
drills in a logical progression allowing your
team to naturally move to more complicated
exercises as their skills develop
- How
to ‘cut on a dime’ even
if your son or daughter is uncoordinated
right now.
- A
simple technique for getting athletes to do
drills correctly the first time.
DVD
#3: Hardcore
Conditioning
If
your athletes are fading at the end of the
game, then they need these breakthrough conditioning
strategies!
Conditioning
for speed and power athletes should not come
from running extended distances at slow speeds.
Would you send a 240 pound linebacker out to
run on the roads to 'get in shape'? I sure hope
not!
Are
you simply running the same old workouts your
coaches had you do when you were an athlete?
Do you know when to run certain types of workouts
or what effect they have on the body? Running
random workouts only hurts your athletes’ performance.
Don’t erase all the progress they’ve
made in other areas by overtraining or undertraining
them out of being competitive.
Unlock
the secrets of aerobic conditioning and discover
the limitless training benefits found in the
Hardcore Conditioning DVD that must be in every
athlete’s speed training program, such
as:
- How
to develop physical and mental strength using
powerful conditioning exercises, complete
with bonus sample programs and routines.
- The
absolute best time to use recovery work to
aid in performance.
- How
to avoid the wrong type of conditioning – and
instantly improve speed.
- The
truth about conditioning workouts – this
one fact could change your whole approach
to training!
- Access
the core training secrets develop
the rock-solid midsection required for stabilizing
the torso and maintaining perfect mechanics,
especially when athletes get tired.
- Why
almost everyone is wrong about what ‘conditioning’ is.
- Over
15 cutting-edge movements that will
show your athletes how to transfer power
through the hips, maximizing speed and explosiveness.
- A
gold mine of 74 cutting
edge conditioning exercises that will:
-Improve overall strength
-Speed up your recovery
-Increase aerobic conditioning without running useless mileage
-Develop balance and coordination
- New
ways to get more out of strength training
for young athletes not ready for
the weight room.
- How
to quickly and easily create a base for heavier
strength training and more intense workouts.
DVD
#4: High
Powered Training
How
to Develop Explosive Power That Lasts
All Season!
Is
your team doing the lifts that will make them
more powerful athletes, or does their workout
consist of bench press and bicep curls? Athletes
are not bodybuilders and shouldn't be training
like them.
But
how comfortable are you in teaching
your athletes proper lifting technique?
Are they executing the Olympic Lifts with perfect
form? (If their elbows are pointing down at
the end of the clean, then they don’t
know what they are doing.) If they aren’t
lifting the right way, they shouldn’t
be lifting at all. Don’t risk injury by
simply babysitting your athletes in the weight
room.
Don’t ‘lift
to lift’ or just follow some college
team’s program. There is a simple way
to create strength training routines that
are specific to your team.
The
advanced High Powered Training DVD was
developed to show you:
- 10
strength training exercises that must be in
your weight training program for the best
results.
- What
almost every athlete is doing wrong in
the weight room.
- Virtually
unknown progressions and techniques for exercises
maximizing strength gains in the weight room.
- Specific
exercises athletes should never do in
the weight room – or you’ll
get slower.
- The
correct way to use plyometric training to improve
explosive power and acceleration.
- New
ways to get more out of preexisting strength
levels.
- 3
facts about strength training that must be
the foundation of every athlete’s training.
- Simple
techniques for the power-packed plyometric
exercises that will increase
your speed, power, and starting quickness
while reducing injuries.
DVD
#5: Pure Speed Training
Who
else wants to prevent their athletes from
getting caught from behind or, even worse,
losing ground after just the first few steps?
Team
speed wins games! It's proven over and over
again. Now is the time to make yourself a dominate
force with blazing speed!
Remember: Speed
is a skill that you can learn. All
athletes have mechanical, postural and technical
issues that must be fixed in order to unlock
your speed potential.
If
you don’t know where to begin teaching
(and re-teaching) athletes how to run, Pure
Speed Training has broken it down into a step
by step process. You’ll immediately begin
to see your athletes’ technical problems
and instantly know how to fix them.
See
specific drills that fix specific problems.
See the light go on in your kids’ heads
as they begin to reprogram their strides with
perfect technique. Become a speed training expert
practically overnight!
Speed
is a skill and any athlete can pick-up the skills
needed to reach their full speed potential,
so they can:
› Shave
tenths off their fastest 40 times!
› Beat their defender to the ball every time!
› Explode out of the starting blocks!
The Pure Speed Training DVD is designed to show you:
- My
jealously guarded progression for teaching
perfect running form.
- How
to quickly and easily fix running mechanics.

of the acceleration drills, cues and workouts
that will teach athletes how to accelerate smoothly
and set up for the fastest top speeds.
- The
correct way to use hill training for
speed development.
- 2 simple
methods for showing your athletes how to run
as fast at the end of the game as they did
at the beginning.
- Discover
how to maintain top speeds so that
athletes can outrun their opponents
- How
to quickly and easily fix running
mechanics.
- The
secret movement that every athlete must

“They
doubled the number of national qualifiers
from the previous year.”
“I
have been certified NSCA - CSCS
for 8 years but am a college softball
coach that has to design her own
programs. I go to as many clinics
and stuff as I can but my schedule
doesn't allow for more than usually
one a year. I have always done
pretty much an overall strength
program just because of time constraints
but this past year we had morning
speed workouts which we focused
on form and drills for about 30-35
minutes or so. Then had afternoon
workouts that we worked on learning
basic Olympic Lifts and pieces
of the lifts along with some combination
lifts that involved mainly hips
and core (some secondary shoulder
stability also) on our rest day
we did strictly tempo workouts
focusing on relaxing while we
run. (It seems a lot of young
adults believe the harder you
try to run the faster you can
go)
To
get to the point. My graduating
seniors in 2005 were our power
in the lineup for the past several
years so our goal was to focus
on speed (that we had some of). I
had 5 different ladies hit homeruns
and 3 hit multiple. Not a single
one had ever hit a homerun in
college and only one had hit one
prior to this year. Some of my
smaller "contact hitters" were
hitting the ball with more authority
also. On top of that I know our
speed had increased...To finalize
my point: Thank you so much for
every thing you have helped me
and my team with in the past year
since I have been receiving your
newsletters and videos. I have
also helped design the womens’ track
workouts and they doubled the
number of national qualifiers
from the previous year.”

“Complete
Speed Training was the most in depth
educational product that I have
ever purchased.”
Hello
Athletes Acceleration,
Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how awesome your complete
speed training product is. It was very well done and put together
in an outstanding progression. We use many of the exercises in
our speed clinic the following weekend. It was a large amount of
material for a very fair price. Complete Speed Training was the
most in depth educational product that I have ever purchased.
Yours
in health,

“The
most comprehensive instructional
speed enhancement product I’ve
seen.”
"Athlete’s
Acceleration’s Complete
Speed Training© DVD series
is the most comprehensive instructional
speed enhancement product I’ve
seen. This series is great, it’s
simple enough for a novice, but
also offers in-depth training
and speed enhancement models that
will increase the speed of even
the most seasoned athlete. It’s
great for any athlete, at any
level, that wants to increase
their speed."

My
name is Latif Thomas and I’ve been involved
in athletics my entire life. In fact, my knowledge
of speed development has allowed me to develop
countless All-Star athletes, consult with
coaches from all over the world and learn
from some of the best coaches on the planet.
Here
are just a few quick highlights from my proven
speed training record:
- 2005
MSTCA Coach of the Year
- 25
Conference Champions, 24 All-State Finalists,
20 Divisional State Champions, 17 School Records,
15 National Qualifiers – All in one
sport in just the past 5 years!
- Two
Time All-East and All-Big East honors as a
Division 1 sprinter (UConn)
- Former
Director of Sports Performance at Mass Premier
Courts where I ran popular speed camps and
clinics for athletes of all sports and age
groups
- USATF
Level II Certified, NSCA – Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist
But
you’ll learn from more than just me!
My
partner, Patrick Beith, is speed expert in his
own right:
Patrick
holds a BS in Exercise Physiology and writes
a weekly Speed Training Report that is read
by more than 40,000 coaches and athletes in
over 60 different countries.
In
fact, Patrick’s articles and theories
on speed training have been featured in major
online publications such as SportsSpecific,
Elite Fitness Systems, PtontheNet, and Successful
Coaching. Additionally he has been featured
in numerous interviews and tele-seminars covering
the many elements of speed, strength and power
development.
He
has run countless successful speed camps and
clincis covering practically every sport under
the sun and holds numerous highly regarded training
certifications such as NSCA-CSCS, NASM-PES,
ACSM – HFI and two USATF Level II certifications.
Why do I say this?
Because
Patrick and I both ‘walk the line’ when
it comes to experience and success developing
top speeds in the athletes we work with.
And
you don’t always see that with some of
the programs being pushed online. But don’t
just take our word for it, listen to what other
top coaches and fitness professionals said when
they got their hands on the program:
